≫ What Makes Safety Wing Popular Among Digital Nomads?
* The insurance fee for a 5-day trip is $18.65 (including the U.S.)
Safety Wing has a lower maximum medical coverage of $250,000, but it covers an amount that can be fully covered for general medical expenses.
For example, let’s take a look at the medical costs in New York, which is said to have one of the highest medical costs in the United States.
Medical content | Medical Expenses in New York |
General Initial Consultation Fee | About $150~$300 |
Initial consultation fee for a specialist | About $200~$500 |
Inpatient room fee | About $2,000~$3,000 |
Appendicitis hospitalization and surgery | About $10,000 |
Dental treatment | About $1,000/bottle |
Safety Wingn’s $250,000 medical coverage is enough to cover the above medical care. However, in the unlikely event that you are forced to undergo surgery or long-term hospitalization in the U.S., it is safe to take out overseas travel insurance with more generous coverage.
On this page, we introduce cost-effective overseas travel insurance (Heymondo, World Nomads, Genki) that can be used for high medical expenses in the U.S.

Genki is an overseas travel insurance policy that specializes in medical insurance. There is no coverage for flight delays or lost/stolen belongings, so insurance premiums are cheaper.
In addition, Genki has a monthly subscription system, so you cannot choose the insurance period according to your travel schedule. When you subscribe, you will be contracted for one month.
The monthly premium depends on the age of enrollment, and if you are under 30 years old, you can get unlimited medical coverage for €48.3 per month.
Age of Enrollment | Monthly insurance premium |
20~29 years old | €40.30 |
30~39 years old | €57.30 |
40~49 years old | €72.30 |
50~59 years old | €105.00 |
60~69 years old | €163.30 |
As mentioned above, Genki is an overseas travel insurance that provides cost-effective and generous medical coverage. However, there are two things to keep in mind;
Points to keep in mind when using Genki
- There is a 14-day waiting period when joining from overseas.
- Since it is a monthly payment subscription system, it will be automatically renewed every month if you do not cancel
The waiting time is the period between the time you purchase insurance and the time when your insurance is applied. This is a period of action to prevent cheating by charging premiums for insurance after illness or injury.
Also, please note that if you no longer need your insurance, you will be automatically renewed every month and charged your premiums unless you cancel the policy yourself.

Summary: If you are on a short trip to the U.S. , Heymondo is recommended!!
